Community tree sale

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Parks and Recreation Department is again offering the Community Tree Sale. Order a tree for yourself or the community. Deadline for orders is Tuesday, April 14, with pickup in early May at the City Garage (1411 Chase St.).
Six tree varieties are being offered this year:
• Ivory Silk Japanese Lilac Tree: Sturdy, compact, and fragrant tree with creamy white flower plumes that can grow to be 10-12” long. Best for sunny locations. 20-25’ H x 15-20’ W, 8-10’ trees available.
• Greenspire Linden Tree: Uniform branches with fragrant flowers with small dark leaves that turn yellow in the fall. Best for sunny locations. 40-50’ H x 30-35’ W, 8’ trees available.
• Prairifire Crabapple: Dark green leaves with purplish overcast that turn red-orange in fall. Slower growing, but ranked highly for disease resistance. Best for sunny locations. 15-20’ H x 15-20’ W, 5’ trees available.

• Royal Raindrops Crabapple: Upright, spreading habit. Bright pinkish red flowers with deep purple foliage. Excellent disease resistance. Best for sunny locations. 15-20’ H x 10- 15’ W, 5’ trees available.
• Canadian Hemlock: A graceful evergreen tree with loose, open growth, slender and drooping branches. Does well in shade, part shade and sunny locations. 35-50’ H x 25-35’ W, 18” trees available.
• Balsam Fir: Flat, fragrant, soft dark green needles. Symmetrical, narrow pyramid shape. Does well in sunny locations but will tolerate partial shade. 40-60’ H x 15-20’ W, 30-36” trees available.
