Rafters starter goes six innings and gives up one run
WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Pitching and early offense paved the way for the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters in their 11th straight win coming against Green Bay on Tuesday night from Joannes Stadium.
Rafters (13-1) starter Quinn DiPasquale (2-0) was given first-inning offense to work with. Leading off the game with a double, Bryson Stott scored on a Nic Motley sacrifice fly to get the games scoring underway. With two runners in scoring position, Josh Rehwaldt roped a single to score both runners to push the Rafters lead up to 3-0. Charlie McConnell came up to bat as the ninth hitter of the inning, and drew a bases loaded walk to score the Rafters fourth run of the inning.
The only run Green Bay would get came in the bottom of the second inning. Brad Hamilton doubled to set up a Ben Hart RBI single to put the Bullfrogs (6-8) on the board.
In the top of the sixth, Scott Kapers doubled with one out to move into scoring position for the Rafters. Stott singled, scoring Kapers and extending the Rafters lead 6-1. Wisconsin Rapids tacked on another run in the top of the seventh.
Dustin Woodcock doubled to start off the inning for his third hit of the game. Rehwaldt continued to swing the bat well, smacking a single to the right side to score Woodcock and give the Rafters a 7-1 lead. The bullpen shut the door from there, tossing the final three innings without giving up a run.
Andy Archer (0-1) is tagged with the loss for Green Bay after lasting just one inning and giving up four runs. DiPasquale struck out a season-high eight batters while walking two for the Rafters.
The Rafters and Bullfrogs meet at Witter Field on Wednesday night to complete the home and home series. The gates open at 6:05 pmfor the 7:05 pm first pitch.
