Merger with Farmers and Merchants Bank Complete
New London, Wis. – First State Bank announced its Rudolph office opened on Monday, Jan. 23, after the merger of Farmers and Merchants Bank was successfully completed this past weekend.
First State Bank is an independent community bank founded in 1933 in New London, Wisconsin. The Rudolph office expands the bank’s footprint further into Central Wisconsin; First State Bank’s offices are otherwise located to the east in and around Waupaca County. With the addition of the Rudolph office, the bank now has seven locations with total assets of approximately $300 million.
In addition to maintaining a strong community banking tradition in Rudolph, First State Bank brings expanded lending capabilities to Rudolph and surrounding communities like Wisconsin Rapids and Stevens Point.
“We have the knowledge and resources to work with all kinds of small- to medium-sized businesses,” said First State Bank president, Bob Van Asten. “One of our niches is lending to farmers and other agribusinesses. Our lenders aren’t just bankers, they have personal experience in farming as well which goes a long way in understanding the unique opportunities and challenges of operating a farm in today’s world.”
