WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Family, friends and former colleagues of Dr. Jung K. Park recently gathered for an outdoor ceremony at Aspirus Riverview Hospital to honor his legacy.

“Dr. Park lived an extraordinary life, beginning in an area of Korea close to the border of China. It was always his dream to move to America, and for his sophomore year in college, he traveled to the US with just $50 in his pocket. After completing his residency, he moved to Wisconsin Rapids in 1970 and established his clinical practice. As a pathologist, Dr. Park proudly served Aspirus Riverview Hospital & Clinics and the Wisconsin Rapids community for more than 35 years,” an Aspirus stated read.

“He was a physician of great acumen, with a deft precise hand at autopsy, an insightful eye at the microscope, and his talents directed the care of countless strangers and neighbors,” remarked Dr. Daniel Lucas. “Dr. Park was more than a physician of note, but a man of great honor and dignity. His greatest legacy, and it is a broad and storied life, will always be his family.”

To honor Park's legacy, his family made a generous gift to the Aspirus Riverview Foundation.

“Through this gift, Dr. Park's appreciation for education and serving patients will carry on through the founding of the Dr. Jung K. Park Legacy for Learning Scholarship and the foundation's new General Patient Fund,” the Aspirus release added.

“In recognition of the Park family’s generosity, a block on the foundation’s Donor Wall of Honor in the Aspirus Riverview Hospital lobby reads, ‘In Loving Memory of Dr. Jung K. Park – A man of great wisdom, strength, and generosity.’”
