WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Hotel Mead and Conference Center has been sold to Michigan-based Founders Collection 2, LLC.

Mayor Zach Vruwink said that he felt good about what the new owners will bring to the community.

“It was a pleasure to work with the previous owners in their pursuit of new ownership for the property,” Vruwink said, “and with the conclusion of the match - making, we look forward to working with Base Hospitality Group as they work to reinvest in the property and promote our community.

“Attracting visitors continues to play an integral role in our growing our local economy. Investments in our airport, regional recreational amenities and welcoming hospitality will insure a more thriving tourism base which, in turn, supports local businesses.

“The volume of visitors staying overnight has improved in recent years demonstrating the importance of the Hotel Mead and all the City’s hotels for employment and economic activity.”

The hotel has 150 guest rooms, 12 meeting rooms, and a restaurant.

The hotel, located at 451 E. Grand Ave., Wisconsin Rapids, was formerly under the ownership of SKD Hotel Mead, LLC.
