WISCONSIN RAPIDS -- JC Penney will have their closing date extended into July, according to a CNBC report.
A JC Penney spokesperson announced that 138 stores, including the Wisconsin Rapids location, will shut down on July 31, as opposed to mid-June. The company stated that the decision comes on the heels of higher traffic in JC Penney stores due to 'nostalgic' shoppers.
In March, JC Penney announced the closing of 138 stores across the region, including Marshfield and Wisconsin Rapids. Current promotions will run its course until next month when liquidation sales start.
JC Penney is located at 555 W. Grand Ave. inside the Rapids Mall.
