John E. Olson, 69, of Rome, Wisconsin passed away on September, 21, 2019 at his residence in Rome, Wisconsin.
John was born October 14, 1949 in Milwaukee, WI to Edwin and Beverly Olson. He married Kathryn C. Rusch on July 31, 2011 in Slinger, WI, being happily together for 28 years. After graduating from West Allis High School, John Went on to serve for the U.S. Army. After his time in the military, John went on to work for the Railroad at CP Rail in Milwaukee, WI for 42 years.
John was a people person. He could talk to anyone, and would help anybody who needed help. He loved fishing and hunting, as well as anything that would keep him outside in nature. He was a tree hugger, as shown by his membership in the Audubon Society, and The Nature Conservancy. He loved camping, campfires, boating, and anything that had to do with family and friends.
John is survived by his wife Kathyrn; son, Matthew (Tracy) Olson; Step-Daughter, Nicole (Joel) Bessey; Brother, Michael Olson; Sister Judy (Michael) Sullivan; and five grandchildren, Tyler and Emily Schemenauer, Owen and Evan Bessey, and Ingrid Olson.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, step-son, and other family and friends.
Memorials for john should be made to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Another way to memorialize John is to plant a tree in his honor, and send a photo of it to his wife Kathryn.
