Krakens open summer season at Fairfax Invitational

EAU CLAIRE – The Wisconsin Rapids Swim Club Krakens opened their summer season June 27-28 at the Fairfax Invitational, competing as part of the Northern Lakes Aquatic Club (NLAC) team. NLAC finished fourth overall with 1,123 points behind Southwest Aquatic Team, YMCA of the Chippewa Valley and La Crosse Area Family YMCA.
Jay Berg led the Krakens with 33 individual points and personal-best times in every event. His top finish was eighth in the 200-meter freestyle, while also placing 10th in the 100-meter freestyle, 11th in the 50-meter backstroke, 12th in the 50-meter breaststroke and 13th in the 50-meter freestyle.
Ole Berg added 28 points, recording personal-best times in all of his events. He placed sixth in the 50-meter backstroke, ninth in the 50-meter butterfly and 11th in the 50-meter freestyle.
Anna Gumz scored seven points, highlighted by 13th place in the 50-meter backstroke and 14th in the 100-meter backstroke. Her sister Ally Gumz made her competitive debut, completing the 50-meter freestyle and 50-meter backstroke.

Janessa Rucinski contributed one point, placing 20th in the 100-meter backstroke with a personal-best time while also setting PRs in the 50- and 100-meter breaststroke.

The Wisconsin Rapids Swim Club (WRSC) is a nonprofit program operated through the Wisconsin Rapids Parks and Recreation Department for swimmers ages 5-18.
