WISCONSIN RAPIDS -- This year's game for the 'Ol' River Jug' was played in a torrent of rainfall on Friday night, in which SPASH would take the jug back home.
After a hot start from the Red Raiders off of two fumbles from SPASH early on, two touchdowns by running back Isaac Pelot from 13-yards and 28-yards out respectively, put Lincoln up 14-0 headed into the second quarter. The Panthers battled back late in the second with a 19-yard run by SPASH running back Colton Kizewski to make it 14-7.
A field goal with one second on the clock by Nathan Hepp put Lincoln up 17-7 at the half. However, the second half told a much different story.
SPASH would adjust to Lincoln's running attack, and with the constant downpour taking away the Lincoln passing game, a third quarter 4-yard touchdown run by quarterback Brady Woyak closed Lincoln's lead to 17-14. Later in the third, it was Kizewski with his second touchdown of the night, taking it in from 17-yards out to put SPASH up 21-17.
With the continued wet and muddy conditions, the Red Raiders failed to put any additional points on the board, as they would drop their first home game of the year 21-17. Jake Mancl was held to only 27 yards passing on the night, with Isaiah Westfall taking in only one reception. Isaac Pelot proved strong, however, putting hp 173 yards on the ground for the night.
This drops Lincoln to 5-3 on the year, and they'll look to clinch the division next week with a win at home against visiting D.C. Everest.
