A 20-year-old man faces charges of his second THC possession offense after police say they found the substance on him.
Dylan Sockness, of Wautoma, is charged with his second offense of THC possession and obstructing an officer. According to police reports, on May 17 at approximately 4:20 a.m. an officer observed two individuals by a motor-home on the 100 block of 18th Ave. South in Wisconsin Rapids.
The two started to quickly walk away, and the officer followed them on foot. After the officer made an attempt to turn one of the two around by grabbing their shoulder they took off running. After a quick pursuit, the officer apprehended the individual and handcuffed her.
The woman refused to identify herself, though after a search found a wallet in her possession with a food stamps card and a credit card belonging to Dylan Sockness.
Another officer in the area apprehended Sockness after observing him attempting to open one of the motor-home's in the area. Sockness stated that he did not know who the woman was that the other officer apprehended.
Once in jail, a corrections officer located a bag of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Tests would later confirm the substance to be THC/marijuana.
If convicted, Sockness faces up to three years and six months imprisonment for his second offense of possession of marijuana, as well as additional time for obstructing an officer. His pre-trial conference is scheduled for Aug. 12.
Charges against the woman were dismissed.
