Man Found Guilty of Threatening an Officer

A 26-year-old man has been found guilty of battery to law enforcement after police say he resisted arrest, and then made threats to the arresting officer before spitting on him.

According to police reports, on Dec. 28, 2015, an officer was dispatched to a boarding house on the 300 block of N. Central Ave. in Marshfield regarding a man causing a disturbance. Andrew Lorenzi, of Marshfield, was allegedly attempting to start a fight with others and appeared to be intoxicated.

The officer attempted to place Lorenzi into custody for disorderly conduct, but Lorenzi resisted arrest, pulling away from the arresting officer. After police put Lorenzi into custody, he would continue to use profanities and threaten officers on the way to and at the jail. Lorenzi then spit on one of the officers, striking him in the hand and leg.

Records show that Lorenzi had charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest prior to this incident, and was to commit no further crimes while out on bond.

Andrew Lorenzi was found guilty due to a no contest plea, and was sentenced to six months in jail, plus three years probation for battery to threat to law enforcement. He was also found guilty of battery and sentenced to 90 days in jail and two years probation.

All other charges of disorderly conduct and spitting on an officer were dismissed.
