Mayor Zacher proclaims Czech-Slovak Heritage Week in Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Mayor Matt Zacher has proclaimed July 27–Aug. 2, 2026, as Czech-Slovak Heritage Week, recognizing the enduring contributions of Czech and Slovak Americans to the city’s history and heritage. The proclamation acknowledges the important role these communities have played in the development of Wisconsin Rapids while encouraging residents to learn more about their lasting cultural legacy.
The proclamation also recognizes Maya Hernández, the 2025–26 Miss Czech Slovak Wisconsin State Queen, and wishes her success as she represents Wisconsin at the Miss Czech Slovak US Pageant in Wilber, Nebraska. The recognition was presented as part of the city’s continued support for organizations and individuals who promote Wisconsin’s Czech and Slovak heritage.
