Mid-State Technical College escape rooms bring local excitement to Wisconsin Science Fair

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Parents are invited to bring their kids to an event that combines exciting themed escape rooms with science and technology skills.

An official Wisconsin Science Festival event from Mid-State Technical College, “A Skilled Escape at Mid-State” takes place across the College’s campusesNov. 2–4. The event is free and designed for ages 8–13 but is fun for older kids and families too.

Mid-State collaborated with Breakpoint Escape Rooms, LLC, to design the event. Players can sign up for up to two rooms at each location, and options include “Sabotage in Green Bay,” a marketing-themed room, and Joshua Did What?!” an IT-themed room and many others. Participants will also learn about Mid-State programs, Dual Credit opportunities, and more.

According to Mid-State’s student life coordinator, Natasha Miller, this is the second consecutive year the College has hosted an event in the Wisconsin Science Festival. “We wanted to offer something fun and stimulating,” she said. “Escape rooms are all the rage, and when we learned we could collaborate with Breakpoint to create our own, we jumped at the chance.”

The annual Wisconsin Science Festival is now in its seventh year. In 2016, the festival featured over 285 events with over 30,000 attendees across the state. Its stated mission is to inspire and engage us all in the enterprise of science and discovery, to cultivate curiosity and communicate the power of knowledge and creativity to change our world view, to promote innovation and to cultivate the next generation of global citizens.
