Mid-State's Annual College Camp Scheduled for Jun 8

Central Wisconsin students who will be entering grades 6 through 8 this fall are gearing up for Camp Mid-State 2016, a hands-on opportunity to explore the careers and crucial skills of tomorrow.

The camp is scheduled for June 8 at Mid-State Technical College’s (Mid-State) Wisconsin Rapids Campus (500 32^nd ST N). Check-in is from 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. and the camp concludes at 4:30 that afternoon. Bus transportation is included and available from specific locations in Adams-Friendship, Auburndale, Marshfield, Nekoosa, Pittsville, Plover, Port Edwards, and Stevens Point.

Each attendee participates in three career exploration sessions of their choice. Sessions offered this year include Accounting, Allied Health Programs, Civil Engineering Technology-Highway Technician, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice-Corrections & Community Advocacy and Criminal Justice-Law Enforcement, Early Childhood Education, Emergency Medical Services, Farm Business & Production Management and Farm Operations, Fire Protection Technician, Health and Wellness Promotion, IT Network Specialist, IT Software Developer, Machine Tool Technician, Renewable Energy, Urban Forestry, and Welding.

The primary goal of Mid-State’s annual College Camp is to broaden a young person's perspective of career possibilities through onsite, hands-on, career discovery in a fun and engaging way. The popular camp’s $35 registration fee includes all three sessions, snacks, lunch, camp gift, and bus transportation.

The registration deadline is May 27, though participants are advised to register early as sessions are first come, first served.
