Mitchell, Schuerman claim national powerlifting titles

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – A pair of Wisconsin Rapids high school athletes came home with national titles following USA Powerlifting High School & Teen Nationals, held March 22-26 in Lombard, IL.

Mason Mitchell, a junior at Lincoln High School, took the 220-pound Teen 2 Raw title, with a 501-pound squat, 375 bench, and 575 deadlift. He also grabbed the198-pound High School Raw title, with a 518-pound squat, 353 bench, and 590 deadlift.

He has now claimed two nation records among 220-pound lifters and holds 17 USA Powerlifting state records.

Abby Schuerman, a senior at Lincoln High School, took the 132-poundequipped title, with a 341-pound squat, 192 bench, and 303 deadlift.

Schuerman holds three USA Powerlifting state records.
