Museum to host immigration exhibit

WISCONSIN RAPIDS — The South Wood County Historical Museum invites the public to explore Immigration: An American Story, a traveling exhibit examining the complex history of immigration in the United States. The exhibit will be on display from July 2 through August 24.
The United States is often described as “a nation of immigrants,” but the story of immigration is far more nuanced. Through documents, maps, photographs, and historical images, Immigration: An American Story explores the experiences of people who came to America under vastly different circumstances. Some arrived seeking opportunity, freedom, and a better life, while others were brought here against their will. The exhibit also examines how successive waves of immigration have influenced public opinion, government policies, and the nation’s development.
Visitors will gain insight into the diverse experiences that have shaped the American story and the continuing conversations surrounding immigration, citizenship, and identity.
As the United States approaches the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this exhibit offers an opportunity to reflect on the many individuals and cultures whose experiences have contributed to the nation’s history.
The exhibit will be displayed in the Brazeau Gallery on the museum’s first floor. Visitors may access the gallery through the museum’s new ramp entrance, providing an accessible route to the exhibit space and first-floor amenities.

The exhibit will be open during regular museum hours: Tuesdays-Thursdays, Sundays, 1–4 p.m.
The South Wood County Historical Museum is located at 540 Third Street South in Wisconsin Rapids. Admission to the museum and exhibits is free, although donations are greatly appreciated.
For additional information, visit the museum’s website, follow the South Wood County Historical Museum on social media, or contact the museum at 715-423-1580.
