NAMI announces Rapids education programs

STEVENS POINT – NAMI of Portage-Wood Counties has announced their educational programs for Wisconsin Rapids.

NAMI BASICS is an education program for parents, grandparents, and other caregivers of children and adolescents – up to age 21 – who are experiencing emotional or behavioral issues including depression, anxiety, and eating disorders.

The class covers the ‘basics’ about stigma, mental health conditions, and current therapies. It addresses managing crises, solving problems, and communicating effectively, as well as the impact on the whole family and need for self-care.

Classes will be held Tuesdays, Sept 25 – Oct 30, from 6-8:30 p.m. at Faith Reformed Church, 1321 32nd St. North, Wisconsin Rapids.
