A Nekoosa man is being charged with alleged possession of methamphetamine, THC and drug paraphernalia after being pulled and searched by police.
On June 8, a Grand Rapids police officer pulled over 24-year-old David Zabawa for driving with a revoked license on Hwy. 13 south of Townline Rd.
According to court documents a Wood County Sheriff's deputy uncovered a baggy containing a leafy green substance which tested positive for marijuana, another baggy with a salt-like material which tested positive formethamphetamine and a blue and yellow glass pipe containing marijuana residue. All items were confiscated and Zabawa was arrested.
The criminal complaint filed by police say that Zabawa admitted that all the confiscated materials belonged to him.
On June 9, Zabawa was released on a $2,500 bond.
For possession of methamphetamine, a class I felony, Zabawa faces a maximum sentence of three years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both. Possession of marijuana/THC is a misdemeanor with a maximum sentence of six months in jail, a $1,000 fine or both. For the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, he faces 30 days in jail, a $500 fine or both.
On July 20, Zabawa pleaded not guilty to all charges at his arraignment in Branch 3 of the Wood County Circuit Court.
Zabawa returns to Wood County Circuit Court on August 21 at 10AM for a pre-trial conference.
