Nekoosa students move on to state powerlifting competition

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Three Nekoosa High School students will advance to the Wisconsin High School Powerlifting Association (WHSPA) state powerlifting tournament in March.

During regional competition, held Feb. 16 in Necedah for Region III, Kaden Downing, Nekoosa sophomore, took first in squat bench deadlift competition in his division, with a total of 1105 pounds. Emily Brown, freshman, took third in squat bench deadlift in her division, with a total of 600 pounds. Logan Cleary, sophomore, took first in squat bench deadlift in his division, with a total of 1800 pounds.

State competition will be held March 2-3 in the Fox Cities Exhibition Center, 355 W. Lawrence St., Appleton.
