Nekoosa Woman Charged with Sixth OWI and Battery of an Officer

A 31-year-old woman faces charges of her sixth OWI, as well as a hit and run and battery to an officer after police say she crashed her vehicle into a guard rail and left the scene of the accident.

Christina Boswell, of Nekoosa, is charged with her sixth OWI, hit and run, and battery of a law enforcement officer. According to police reports, on Jun. 27, 2015, deputies called to respond to reports of an accident on Just Ln. in Port Edwards. Deputiesobserved that the guard rail had been severely damaged, and the vehicle appeared to have full air bag deployment and a broken windshield.

Deputies later located Boswell walking alone on County Rd. G and confirmed that she was the driver of the crashed vehicle from Boswell's own admission. Deputies noticed a very strong odor of alcohol coming from Boswell, as well as noting Boswell's speech was slurred. Boswell refused to take a field sobriety test and then changed her story and informed authorities that she was not driving the crashed vehicle.

Boswell was arrested and taken to Riverview Hospital where it was found that she had a blood alcohol level of .155, well over the legal limit. When deputies removed Boswell from the blood draw chair, Boswell bit one of the deputies in the arm. According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Boswell's driving license had been revoked due to prior convictions of OWI.

If convicted, Boswell faces up to six years imprisonment and up to $10,000 in fines for a sixth OWI, and six years imprisonment with up to $10,000 in fines for battery of law enforcement. Her pre-trial conference is scheduled for Mar. 4, 2016.
