Olio Arts and Music Center to present “Express Yourself” exhibit

Seeking submissions from the public

Posted

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Olio Arts and Music Center will be accepting original artwork for its upcoming exhibition, “Express Yourself – Wearable Art.”
At Olio, we believe art is meant to be experienced — sometimes even worn. “Express Yourself – Wearable Art” invites artists to explore the space where art, craft and personal expression meet the human body. This exhibit celebrates wearable works as both visual art and lived experience — pieces that move, shift and tell stories through form, texture and material. Olio welcomes submissions in all media, including fiber, textiles, metal, glass, paper, found materials, mixed media and experimental approaches. Works must be functional and wearable: subtle or bold, traditional or unexpected, but should be created with the body in mind. From garments and accessories to sculptural adornments, this exhibit invites artists to use the body as a canvas and viewers to imagine art beyond the wall. Come share work that reflects who you are, what you value, and how you see the world — because self-expression looks different on everyone.
No artist may submit more than 10 pieces in total. Within that total: Up to 10 pieces of jewelry and up to five pieces of all other wearable art (clothing, accessories, etc). Artists may submit a combination of categories (for example, five jewelry and five clothing pieces), but non-jewelry items may not exceed five, and the total submission may not exceed ten pieces. Submissions must not have been in Olio exhibits, gift shop or holiday show. Entries will be accepted March 10, 11 and 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The entry fee is $10 per artist. It is preferred that item(s) be for sale. Artists are responsible for their own insurance. Olio is not responsible for any damage.
Opening Night and Meet the Artist Reception will be Thursday, March 26 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The exhibition will be open to the public March 26 through May 6 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by appointment. Artists may pick up their art after the exhibit on May 7 and 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or by appointment.
