WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids native, Vince Biegel was released from the Green Bay Packers Sept. 1, in the team’s final cuts.

Biegel is a Lincoln High School graduate who grew up on a cranberry marsh near Wisconsin Rapids, where he and his siblings are the fifth generation to have worked the land.

The former Wisconsin Badgers standout was drafted by the Packers as a fourth-round pick – 108 overall – in 2017.

The outside linebacker missed his rookie training camp due to foot surgery and played nine games in his first season, while recording 10 tackles.

The Green Bay Packers released Biegel during final cuts to get down to a 53-man roster and now have four outside linebackers – Clay Matthews, Nick Perry, Reggie Gilbert, and Kyler Fackrell.

On Sept. 2, the New Orleans Saints claimed Biegel off waivers, signing him to their practice team.
