New faces fill positions with organization

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The South Wood County Humane Society (SWCHS) is seeing some changes, as new faces fill positions with the organization.

Thompson

Brett Thompson has joined SWCHS as executive director. Brett grew up in Stevens Point, but now calls Wisconsin Rapids his home. He has a bachelor’s degree in Health Science from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and most recently was a route sales representative for Aramark.

Brett is a longtime dog behaviorist and former volunteer at the shelter. In his free time, he helped train dogs that came into the shelter and when the executive director position became available, he saw the perfect opportunity to follow his passion of helping animals.

“It means so much that we receive a great deal of support from our local community,” Brett said. “If the community didn’t show their love and support, we wouldn’t be able to continue to do what we do.”

Peabody

Beth Peabody was recently named the director of animal care. Beth has been with SWCHS for nearly 13 years. She oversees all animal care operations at the shelter and is best known for her strong work ethic and her willingness to do anything for the well-being of an animal.

The organization has also hired Nicole Pfahning as front office coordinator. Nicole is a Wisconsin Rapids native and a “longtime animal lover.”
