Player Spotlight: No. 1 Ranked Wide Receiver Isaiah Westfall

WISCONSIN RAPIDS -- Carrying the title of top ranked wide receiver in the state may be a burden to some, but to Isaiah Westfall, it just means he has to work a little harder.

Lincoln High School senior Isaiah Westfall has been playing football since the second grade, and dabs in other sports as well, including track and basketball. However, Westfall is known for his outstanding talent at wide receiver, as the Wisconsin Sports Network ranks him at the very top of the list out of all receivers in the state. Westfall has also been scouted by various Big Ten schools, including the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

However, Westfall is not exactly feeling the squeeze.

"I'm not really feeling any extra pressure," said Westfall. "I'm just going to into the season knowing that I am at that number one spot, so I have to play like I'm at the number one spot -- to show that there's a reason why I'm there."

Westfall, who is an admirer of the playing style of New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., hopes to play at the professional level one day. The 6'3, 175 pound lightning quick wideout shows a promising and intelligent football mind, displays great hands on the field, and understands that there is always work to be done, especially with multiple Division I universities knocking at your door.

First things first, though, and aside from a potentially bright NFL future, the first team All-Conference star knows that this season is right in front of him. The star receiver shows not just confidence in his own abilities, but confidence in the Red Raiders going into this season. This includes starting quarterback Jake Mancl, who will be tasked with getting the ball to Westfall as a part of the Red Raiders high-powered offense.

"I have really high expectations of the team this year," said Westfall. "I think we can do it this year, and this will be the year to do it because we have a really experienced team."

Lincoln opens up their year against Kaukauna High School on Aug. 19 at home.
