Plover Street reopens as other construction projects near completion

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Plover Street is once again open to through traffic after the city completed a reconstruction project that spanned from 1st Street North to Apricot Street.
American Asphalt finished paving work last week, installing both the lower and surface courses of asphalt from Broadway Street to Apricot Street. City crews also installed street signs to complete the project.
Meanwhile, work continues on 14th Avenue North between West Grand Avenue and Green Bay Street. The street remains closed from West Grand Avenue to Fremont Street as crews complete underground utility work.
City workers finished installing sanitary sewer lines from West Grand Avenue to High Street and completed water main installation from West Grand Avenue to McKinley Street. Crews also began topsoil restoration and gravel grading work between High Street and Fremont Street to provide resident driveway access.
Workers are also continuing water main and storm sewer utility work between West Grand Avenue and High Street. City crews expect to complete topsoil restoration work between High Street and Fremont Street.
The new Mead Field pickleball courts are nearing completion. American Fence installed posts, nets and windscreen around the courts last week, and the courts are expected to open to the public soon.
