WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Port Edwards officials have accepted the resignation of Police Chief Jennifer Iverson, effective Nov. 18. The move is part of a settlement agreement approved by the village board on Nov.13, in which an investigation and formal charges involving Iverson will be dropped in exchange for her resignation.
Iverson was reportedly being accused of misconduct.
“In this case, parties on both sides agreed to forego this process by coming to a separation agreement prior to the Disciplinary Hearing,” said Scott Stewart, chairman of the Port Edwards Police and Fire Commission in a statement to the media. “These types of agreements are common given the cost of potential appeal litigation.
“The Commission can only address disciplinary proceeding and resignation issues, it has no jurisdiction as to the terms of the separation agreement.
“Due to the withdrawal of formal charges and the resignation of Ms. Iverson, the Commission has ceased the hearing proceedings and accepted her resignation.”
