Here are some news and notes from the public works committee that met on Wednesday, Mar 9 at 6:30 p.m.
Discussion between members in regards to installing cameras around Robinson Park were in consensus to move forward with further discussion in future meetings. The idea comes from the recent theft of city property and vandalism to the area and the park.
There was discussion between two possible ideas for a roundabout in the intersection of Jackson St. and E. Grand Ave. One would see a "mini" roundabout, and the other would be a single lane, larger roundabout. Talks are in preliminary stages and will be discussed at future meetings.
Bicycle and pedestrian accommodations were approved by the committee for 8th St. South and E. Grand Ave. These accommodations will be federally funded.
The motion to bring talks of an automated single stream recycling service was approved, and will be sent to the finance and property committee. This would replace the current recycling system with large 48 and 95 gallon bins that would be picked up by an automated truck.
