WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Rapids Plan Commission passed a request for rezoning that will allow for the development of a new apartment complex.
Premier Real Estate Management is requesting a rezoning from R-3, Multi-Family Medium Density Residential District to R-4, Multi-Family High Density Residential District. The company would then use the 7.12-acre parcel at 3411 Washington Street, Wisconsin Rapids, to develop a 48-unit “upscale market rate” apartment complex.
According to their website, Premier currently owns three other apartment complexes in the Wisconsin Rapids community – Country Pines, River Grove Senior Village, and Sunset apartments.
The development would bring approximately $100,000 in tax revenue to Rapids.
After a March 4 public hearing, the Plan Commission passed the request 4-1, with Mayor Zach Vruwink voting no.
The matter will now move to the full city council for final approval. If approved, the project could begin this summer.
