A Rapids woman could see possible jail time if convicted of contributing to the delinquency of her child.

Crystal Green, 28, is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a child in March of 2015. If convicted of the class A misdemeanor, she could see a maximum sentence of up to nine months imprisonment, or a $10,000 fine or both.

According to court documents, Wisconsin Rapids Police officers were dispatched to Howe Elementary School on March 13 to investigate a theft complaint. At the school, the officer spoke with the 10-year-old daughter of Green who said she took $273 from a teacher's purse without her consent.

Green's daughter told police she gave the money to her mother who told her she'd have to pay the teacher's money back with funds of her own. Green then reportedly took her two daughters to Shopko where she purchased items using the stolen cash.

Green is free on a $1,000 signature bond set at her initial appearance in Wood County Circuit Court on October 19.

She returns to court on November 13 at 9:00 AM for a pre-trial conference.
