WISCONSIN RAPIDS — Registration is underway for United Way of South Wood and Adams Counties annual Stuff the Desk program, which provides free school supplies to local students.
Families can register for the program by calling 211 or visiting the United Way website through Aug. 1. Registration opened May 1.
Supply packages vary by grade level, with younger students receiving items such as crayons, glue sticks and markers, while high school students get notebooks, folders and pens. All grade levels receive backpacks and pencils.
The program serves families throughout the Wisconsin Rapids area, with special consideration for those qualifying for free or reduced school lunch programs. Registration information may be shared with students' school districts.
Families experiencing housing instability, including those in shelters, motels or transitional housing, are encouraged to participate in the program.
The event also accommodates students enrolled in Title VI Native American Education Programs in both Wisconsin Rapids and Nekoosa/Port Edwards school districts.
Parents must pre-register and select a specific pickup time to receive supplies. Walk-ins are not accepted. Distribution will be Aug. 15-16 at East Junior High School.
For more information or to register, visit uwswac.org or call 211.
