Posted

OSCEOLA – The Pittsville River Bandits split a playoff doubleheader Saturday, defeating the Beef River Bullfrogs 4-2 before falling to the Osceola Braves 5-0 in Wisconsin Baseball Association postseason action.

Logan Zickert led the River Bandits' offensive attack in both games, going 3-for-4 with a double, run, stolen base, walk and RBI in the opening victory. Sam Schwanebeck added two hits and an RBI in three at-bats.

Zach Roberts earned the win on the mound for Pittsville, working eight innings while allowing two runs and striking out two batters. The River Bandits collected 12 hits while committing no errors in the victory.

The second game proved more challenging for the River Bandits, who managed just seven hits against Osceola pitching. Zickert again paced the offense with two hits in four at-bats, while Dylan Luther also collected two hits.

The Braves, defending WBA Division B champions, took advantage of their home field at Oakey Park to knock the River Bandits out of postseason play.

Pittsville, which competes in the Dairyland League Division B, finished the regular season 7-6 (5-2 in league).

The WBA, founded in 1948, promotes amateur baseball throughout Wisconsin with member leagues including the Dairyland League, St. Croix Valley League and others competing for the annual state championship tournament.
