Riverkings season ends just short of nationals

The Wisconsin Rapids Riverkings lost game three of their playoff series against the Minnesota Moose on March 8 to end their season just short of nationals.

After riding high following a March 7 win, the Riverkings faced a do-or-die game against the Moose to move on to nationals in Boston for the USPHL.

The Moose took the lead after scoring late in the first period. The Riverkings would tie it up four minutes later after a goal by Jered Steverson.

In the second period, Minnesota scored again, followed by another Riverkings goal to tie it up at 2. The Riverkings’ goal was scored by Logan Harris on a powerplay. The Moose then scored once more in the second period to take a 3-2 lead.

The third period, the Moose grabbed another score in the first two minutes, making it 4-2. The Riverkings couldn't catch up and the Moose added another one with 16 seconds left, leaving Rapids with a 5-2 win.

Guiliano Lattela had 18 saves for the Riverkings.
