WISCONSIN RAPIDS -- Kevin Van Bokkelen has committed to NCAA D3 Lebanon Valley College in Hersey, Penn.after two successful seasons with the Riverkings.
"Kevin has worked hard and has proven to be a top score in his two seasons with the Riverkings," said Riverkings Head Coach Marty Quarters. "He had multiple offers, but felt LVC not only offers him to be part or rebuilding their hockey program but also provides the degree he was looking for. We thank Kevin for his play on the ice and work in the community. Our staff is very proud of him and he worked hard to achieve this opportunity."
Van Bokkelen finished ninth overall in the USPHL Elite League in scoring this year, picking up 32 goals and 44 assists. Van Bokkelen also led the league with 19 power play goals, and put in 8 game winning goals this season.
"I’m excited about attending Lebanon Valley College and having the opportunity to be part of the Flying Dutchmen hockey team and play for Coach Parsons," said Van Bokkelen. "He is building a solid program, and I look forward to playing NCAA hockey at the D3 level, and to making a significant contribution to the team and the LVC program."
While the two year Riverking had a short stay in Wisconsin Rapids, Van Bokkelen is humbled by his time with the team, and sees his time as that of significant growth as a player.
“My two years in Wisconsin Rapids were fantastic, and I would like to thank head coach and GM Marty Quarters and the staff for giving me the chance to be part of the Riverkings, which really helped my development," said Van Bokkelen. "Winning a conference championship and making it all the way to the USPHL Elite National Championship semifinals this season was a great experience, and something I will never forget.”
