Road infrastructure project update

Posted

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The city has made progress on two major infrastructure projects during the week of July 14-18, with road closures continuing and new work scheduled for the week of July 21-25.
Crews completed topsoil restoration work on Plover Street between 1st Street North and Apricot Street this week, with the final layer of asphalt expected to be installed as early as July 21, according to the city’s Public Works Division weekly update.
The Plover Street project is part of a sidewalk installation initiative along 14th Avenue. City crews worked this week on fine grading gravel along Plover Street east of Broadway Street.
The separate project on 14th Avenue North between West Grand Avenue and Green Bay Street reached several milestones during the week of July 14-18. Workers installed sanitary sewer lines from West Grand Avenue to McKinley Street and completed curb, gutter and concrete sidewalk work from High Street to Fremont Street.
The 14th Avenue project has resulted in road closures from West Grand Avenue to Fremont Street. During the week of July 21-25, underground utility work will continue with sanitary sewer installation from McKinley Street to High Street.

City Engineer Joe Eichsteadt said crews also plan to begin topsoil restoration work along 14th Avenue between High Street and Fremont Street during the upcoming week.
Both projects are part of the city’s ongoing capital improvement efforts. The completion timeline for the asphalt work depends on contractor scheduling and availability.
