Rudolph and Wisconsin Rapids begin Honor Walk Project 2026

Posted

WOOD COUNTY – In both the City of Wisconsin Rapids and the Village of Rudolph, banners will be put up to honor veterans who served or are now serving — living or deceased, male or female. We want to honor them all for their service to our country.
It is the mission of the Honor Walk Project to place banners honoring veterans on every banner hanger in the Village of Rudolph and the City of Wisconsin Rapids. Orders for placing Veterans Honor Walk banners are now going on for the 2026 Tour of Duty.
In 2025, the Village of Rudolph was declared a Purple Heart Village. It was the first village in the State of Wisconsin to receive this designation. In 2026, American Legion Post #485 hopes to secure the Purple Heart designation for Wisconsin Rapids, too. This designation has significant meaning for a municipality and its people. It represents a public promise to remember the sacrifices of veterans who were hurt or lost their lives in service. This recognition helps foster a sense of appreciation and patriotism within the community. For recipients and their families, living in a Purple Heart City can provide a supportive environment where their contributions are visibly respected and appreciated.
Orders for placing Veteran Honor Walk banners are now going on for the 2026 Tour of Duty. To honor a veteran or get more information about the Honor Walk project for the City of Wisconsin Rapids or the Village of Rudolph, please contact Rich Cournoyer, commander of the Rudolph American Legion Post #485, at 715-435-3662.
