RUDOLPH – The Rudolph American Legion Post #485 is honoring veterans in a unique way. For the fourth year, the Legion has installed banners on posts along Main Street and Grotto Avenue in the village.
Called the Honor Walk, the banners celebrate military veterans with their names prominently displayed, a photo, and the years served.
“We are very proud to announce that Clayton Slack, a 19-year-old WWI PVT and Medal of Honor recipient is one of the Honored this year,” said Rich Cournoyer, Chairman of the walk and Post Commander. “Clayton was born in Portage County, town of McDill and was a lifelong resident of Wisconsin.”
Post #485 publishes a free book each year, featuring the veterans included in the Honor Walk. In 2023, the American Legion Post #485’s namesake, Elmer F. Blonegin is one of those vets.
A full write up of both of these highly decorated veterans are featured in this year’s book. The books can be found at many establishments in the Village and at the information board, located by the Army Tank on Main Street. The books contain pictures of the Honored Veterans, and where their banners are located in the village. The Honor Walk books are free of charge.
The Class of 2023 Honored veterans are Donald Agen, Raymond Bikowski, George Blauvelt, Clarence Blomberg, Clifford Brandl, Alex Brostowitz, Henry “Hank” Brostowitz, John Brostowitz, James “Jim” Gebert, James ”Jim” Hahner, Gary Hartjes, Chester “Chet” Homann, Harold J.
