WISCONSIN RAPIDS — A new exhibit opening next month at the South Wood County Historical Museum will showcase the often-overlooked support roles that keep military operations running.
"Working Warriors: Military Life Beyond Combat" opens July 1 and runs through Aug. 31 at the museum. The traveling exhibit, developed by the Wisconsin Veterans Museum, features personal stories, photographs and artifacts highlighting mechanics, medics, engineers, clerks and other service members who work behind the front lines.
The exhibit aims to honor the dedication and expertise of military personnel whose day-to-day duties often go unseen, according to museum officials.
The museum is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free, though donations are accepted.
The South Wood County Historical Museum is located at 540 3rd Street South in Wisconsin Rapids. Free parking is available on-site.
