CLARK COUNTY – At least one tornado touched down in Clark County during Thursday night’s storms, taking down power lines and trees, damaging buildings and sending a baby to the hospital.
Clark County Sheriff Kerry Kirn said the baby sustained some lacerations, but was treated and released and will be fine.
A storm spotter saw the tornado in the area of Meridian Avenue and Highway 98, the sheriff said.
The National Weather Service said at least five tornadoes touched down in the state on May 15.
Damage reports are still coming in, but Kirn said power lines are down throughout the area.
He said people should avoid the area while crews restore power, especially in the Highline Avenue and Overdale Road areas.
The National Weather Service out of La Crosse will be assessing the damage, and it's unclear just how strong the tornadoes were.
Wood County Sheriff Shwan Becker said while there were reports of minor damage in Wood County, there were no reports of tornadoes touching down.
