South Wood County Holiday Family Support Program is underway

WOOD COUNTY – The WRFF Charitable Foundation, Saratoga EMS, Port Edwards FD, Grand Rapids FD, Biron FD and Rudolph FD have collected donations and supplies for the South Wood County Holiday Family Support Program, which provides Christmas meal baskets for local families in need. As of this year, they are also including basic household and hygiene items in each basket. Baskets will be distributed on or before Saturday, Dec. 20.
The program’s goal is to ensure local families experience the joy and comfort of the holidays, regardless of financial hardship. Through community partners and charitable support, they aim to expand the number of families served, increase the quality of items provided and strengthen the community through compassion and collaboration.
More than 100 meal baskets were provided to more than 90 families in 2024. The program served families across the Wisconsin Rapids and Port Edwards School Districts. Four thousand dollars were raised, in addition to donations of food and volunteers’ time and transportation.
