FOR CITY TIMES WISCONSIN RAPIDS – If you have not already donated to the annual “Stuff the Bus” school-supply drive, it is not too late to do so.
Many businesses have been conducting separate donation drives, and will deliver those supplies during Lunch by the River Thursday, Aug. 4 from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Veteran's Memorial Park. If you did not participate in a business campaign, and would like to make a donation, simply drop off those supplies at Lunch by the River. According to the United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties, this year has seen a record number of registrants, and organizers are in need of additional school supply and monetary donations. The goal is for kids to go to school and succeed without having to worry about where their school supplies are coming from. Most needed items include: backpacks (plain colors), notebooks (plain colors), folders (plain colors), colored pencils, markers, highlighters, water colors, glue sticks, and scissors. Donations can be brought to Lunch by the River Aug. 4. No time to shop? Monetary donations are appreciated and help with additional supply needs. School supplies will be distributed to registered students at “Stuff the Desk” Aug. 19-20.
