WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Three elementary schools in the Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools district have been named 2023-24 Wisconsin Schools of Recognition by the state Department of Public Instruction.
Grove, Howe and Mead elementary schools received the honor in the High Impact category, which recognizes schools for academic performance, measurable progress in student growth and graduation rates and reducing achievement gaps, particularly among students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
“It’s truly humbling to have three of our buildings recognized for meeting the needs of our students and helping them excel,” said Superintendent Ronald Rasmussen in a news release. “We are extremely proud of our students and staff. This recognition reflects the hard work and strong support of our families and entire school community.”
The Wisconsin Schools of Recognition program honors Title I schools that demonstrate success in educating all students, particularly those experiencing poverty. The program resumed awards for the 2023-24 school year after a pause during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The recognition is based on rigorous criteria including academic performance, measurable progress in student growth and graduation rates and reducing achievement gaps.
