United Way offers volunteer opportunities

The following volunteer opportunities are available through the United Way of South Wood & Adams counties:

United Way of South Wood & Adams Counties Volunteer Center

Day of Caring Nov. 3

Volunteers are needed to rake yards on our annual Day of Caring event. This is a great way for families, co-workers, church or school groups to spend time together and help others in the community. We will begin at the Grand Rapids Lions Club at 8 a.m. for a free hot pancake breakfast. All pre-registered volunteers will also receive a free t-shirt. Please pre-register your group atwww.uwswac.orgto be guaranteed t-shirts.

American Red Cross:VA Medical Center Volunteer - Tomah

Help contribute to the quality of life through volunteer jobs provided at the VA Health Care Facility.

Responsibilities include:

• Willingness to support the mission of Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service (VAVS) and the American Red Cross

• Support all veterans by performing assigned job requirements such as: greeter, patient escort, refreshment cart support, lab runner, clinical administrative volunteer, recreation therapy assistant, information desk worker, patient visitor, MyHealtheVetKiosk guide, pharmacy assistant, hospice/respite care/No Veteran Dies Alone volunteer, special event support, transportation program driver, professional medical volunteer, and other opportunities.

Cooking and Craft Volunteers

Elderly and developmentally disabled tenants like to do crafts and cook. Would like to have a volunteer to set up games-cards or cook with small groups. We have a kitchen in the Community room for group activities. Tenants love Bingo would like organizer for one time a month. Would like a teen to organize movie night. We have movies and treats for movie time.

Heartland Hospice

Administrative/Office Volunteer

Are you or someone you know looking to gain administrative experience in an office setting? Administrative / Office volunteers contribute to the Heartland Hospice mission by providing needed office support. Some of the activities include mailing out cards, newsletters, various copying, assembling volunteer orientation manuals and in-service packets, inventory on hospice forms, filing, assembling admission folders.
