More details have come out in last night's accident in Grand Rapids, which saw a head-on collision on Kellner Rd. and 68th St.
According to a press release by the Grand Rapids Police Department, at 7:04 p.m., a Ford SUV driven by 17-year-old Logan Steinhilber was eastbound on County Rd. W when it collided with a westbound Chevrolet pickup driven by 59-year-old Dale Fisher, when it crossed the centerline.
Mr. Fisher was airlifted to Aspirus hospital in Wausau with serious injuries. His passenger, 55-year-old Jeanne Fisher was airlifted to St. Joseph's hospital in Marshfield.
In the other vehicle, a 15-year-old female passenger was also airlifted to St. Joseph's hospital in Marshfield with serious injuries. Steinhilber was not seriously injured and was not transported to any medical facilities.
According to police, Steinhilber was put in custody last night due to suspected drunk driving.
The Grand Rapids Police Department is working with the Wisconsin State Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit to investigate the accident. Assistance at the scene was provided by First Responders, the Grand Rapids Fire Department, Wood County Sheriff's Office, Wood County Rescue, and the United Ambulance Service.
