WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Point-in-Time (PIT) count is a semi-annual survey which seeks to gather a “snapshot” of homelessness in every community on a single night. During the PIT count, volunteers canvass south Wood County to record the number of people experiencing homelessness locally, and offer resources as available.
The PIT count will begin at 11:00pm on Wednesday, Jan. 22, and wrap up in the early hours of Thursday, Jan. 23. Volunteers will meet at North Central Community Action Program’s office, located at 2111 8th Street South in Wisconsin Rapids, at 10:30pm for a brief training orientation before the event begins. No prior experience or training is needed.
Community members interested in volunteering for the PIT count can contact Ben Eberlein at United Way by calling 715-421-0390 or emailing ben@uwswac.org.
