WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools (WRPS) has announced the results of a district-wide community survey conducted this fall to gather input on critical district challenges, including a growing operational budget deficit and aging school facilities.
The survey, administered by School Perceptions, an independent Wisconsin-based research firm, was part of WRPS’s ongoing efforts to engage residents in shaping the future of the district. More than 2,200 respondents shared their perspectives, providing valuable insights that will guide the district’s next steps.
The survey provided the following valuable insights.
There is 52.5% weighted support for the $4 million operational referendum option, and 62.5% weighted support for the $3.5 million operational referendum option.
Both staff and parents responded positively to the possibility of exploring a future capital referendum: 76% of staff and 69% of parents supported the idea.
Of all respondents, 67% rated WRPS as great or good in delivering a high-quality education.
In summary, the majority of all subgroups support the district pursuing a replacement five-year operational referendum to address the $3.5 million budget deficit, with weighted support for a plan between $3.5-$4 million per year. Additionally, most respondents favor exploring a future capital referendum to improve aging facilities and learning spaces.
