Referendum focuses on maintaining essential district operations and services

Posted

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools (WRPS) is encouraging community members to learn about the April 7 operational referendum and to plan ahead to vote as in-person absentee (early) voting opens across Wisconsin.
The April 7 operational referendum asks voters to consider continued support for the district’s day-to-day operating needs with a $3.8 million, five-year proposal. Operational referendums are used to fund essential school functions that are not fully covered by state funding, including classroom instruction, student services, staffing, utilities, transportation and building operations.
WRPS has shared information about the referendum through community information sessions and district communications to help residents understand the district’s financial challenges and the role the referendum plays in maintaining current programs and services. The district’s goal is to provide clear, factual information so voters can make an informed decision.
Voting information
The operational referendum will appear on the Spring Election ballot on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
