Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools voters approve April 2026 Operational Referendum

Community support helps sustain essential school programs and services

Posted

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – On April 7, voters in the Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools (WRPS) District approved the district’s operational referendum, providing continued support for the district’s day-to-day operating needs. Preliminary, unofficial results indicate that approximately 51% of voters supported the referendum.
The approved referendum authorizes $3.8 million per year for five years to help fund essential school operations that are not fully covered by state funding. These funds will support classroom instruction, student services, staffing, transportation, utilities and building operations across the district.
“We are grateful to our community for taking the time to learn about the district’s financial needs and for participating in this important decision,” said Superintendent Ronald Rasmussen. “This outcome allows Wisconsin Rapids Public Schools to maintain the programs and services our students rely on while continuing to be responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars.”
District leaders emphasized that the referendum does not represent new programs, but rather helps sustain current educational offerings and operational services in the face of ongoing financial pressures.
Next, the district will incorporate the approved referendum revenue into its long-term financial planning and annual budgeting process. WRPS will continue to provide updates to the community and remain committed to transparency and accountability.
