There are moves being made in the Wood County Courthouse -- and it's all about efficiency.
Wood County has been conducting a space needs study for it's offices for a few years. This process will assess the best use of space within the courthouse and move departments appropriately.
The first and most noticeable move will come with the county clerk's office moving to the first floor where the current auditorium is now.
Human Services, who holds multiple office spaces in the courthouse, will be moving to the recently purchased River Block building located at 111 W. Jackson St., as well as the Health Department, who currently leases offices in Riverview hospital.
"Other departments here in the courthouse need either a larger space than what they have, or the space that they're in has issues," said Cindy Cepress, County Clerk. "They also wanted certain departments to interact and to be together."
Other moves include the dispatch department moving to where the county clerk's office is currently located, meeting rooms 113 and 114 being combined to create a larger space, and many other departments within the courthouse will be shifting floors.
"My move is key to letting other actions happen," said Cepress. "These shifts are good for the whole county."
