WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The countdown is on for the 60th Annual Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Championships, taking place July 16-19 at Red Sands Beach on Lake Wazeecha in Wisconsin Rapids.
Recognized as the largest and longest-running water ski show tournament in the world, the Wisconsin State Water Ski Show Championships will welcome 24 of Wisconsin’s premier show ski teams and 72 individual competitors for four days of elite competition, entertainment and family fun. Hosted by the Wisconsin Rapids Aqua Skiers since the tournament’s inception, the event serves as a qualifying competition for the National Water Ski Show Championships.
Competition begins Thursday, July 16 with individual events, including swivel, swivel pairs, freestyle jumping, team jumping and doubles. Team competition takes center stage Friday through Sunday as teams perform themed shows featuring breathtaking pyramids, barefoot skiing, jump acts, swivel skiing, ballet lines and high-energy stage performances — all set against the backdrop of Lake Wazeecha.
In addition to the on-water action, spectators can enjoy concessions, local vendors, a beer garden, tournament merchandise and activities for all ages throughout the weekend.
“This weekend is about more than competition—it’s about bringing people together,” said Katie Ness, tournament director. “Each year, thousands of spectators visit Wisconsin Rapids to celebrate the sport of show skiing while supporting local businesses and our community. The tournament generates an estimated $3.7 million economic impact and fills hotels throughout Wisconsin Rapids and the surrounding area.”
