WPS working nonstop to repair power outages following damaging ice storm

Power restored to more than 44,000 customers so far

NORTHEAST WISCONSIN – Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) crews are continuing to work quickly and safely to repair power outages caused by Thursday’s damaging ice storm and strong winds.
Since Thursday morning, WPS has restored power to more than 44,000 customers. Crews continue to respond nonstop to repair outages after thick ice coated trees, limbs and power lines across central and northeast Wisconsin.
WPS crews are encountering significant damage, including broken utility poles, downed power lines and trees that have fallen into electric equipment. Communities in and around Stevens Point, Green Bay and Wausaukee are among those most affected by the outages.
All available WPS crews — as well as extra contract crews — will continue to work around the clock to make repairs and restore power to all affected customers.
Customers without power can receive the latest information on their estimated time of restoration on the WPS app or our online outage map. Estimated restoration times may change if crews find significant damage.
WPS reminds customers to stay at least 25 feet away from any downed power line. Report all downed power lines to WPS or a local law enforcement agency immediately.
WPS appreciates its customers’ patience as it works as quickly and safely as possible to restore power to them.
